Institute of History and International Relations
The present Institute of History and International Relations consists of 9 Departments and has 36 full-time academics, over 20 doctoral students and some 700 students taking taught B.A and M.A. courses.
Rated very well in a recent external review, the IHiSM enjoys interesting educational programme and a research profile in a number of areas, first of all the political, social, ecclesiastical and cultural history of Poland from the Middle Ages to the present day and history and international relations of Middle and Eastern Europe, especially German, Czech and Russia. Research is also undertaken in other fields including archaeology, ancient Rome and barbarian zones, cultural topics and historiography, prosopography, refugees, Jewish history and totalitarianism.
