Anastazija Vlastelić

Dr. Anastazija Vlastelić, Assoc. Prof.

Dr. Anastazija Vlastelić (b. 1976) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Croatian Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka, where she has been serving as Vice-Dean for Education and Students since 2024.

She graduated in Croatian Language and Literature at the University of Rijeka and obtained her PhD at the University of Zagreb with a dissertation entitled The Description of Attributes in Croatian Grammars from the Beginnings to the End of the 19th Century (supervised by Prof. Diana Stolac).

Her research interests include Croatian linguistics, syntax and language history, sociolinguistics, pragmalinguistics, research methodology in linguistics, and the popularization of the humanities. She has presented papers at more than forty conferences in Croatia and abroad, both as sole author and as co-author.

Dr. Vlastelić is the author of two scholarly monographs (Language of Advertising, 2014, co-authored with Diana Stolac; The Description of Attributes in Croatian Grammars from the Beginnings to the End of the 19th Century, 2020), has edited six conference proceedings, and has published around seventy scientific articles and numerous professional papers and reviews.

She was principal investigator of the project Croatian-Hungarian Written Heritage (UNIRI, 2024–2025) and has participated in several national and international research projects, including History of Croatian Syntax (MZOM, RH; 2001–2013), Croatian Marine Engineering Terminology (2010–2011), Croatian Written Heritage from the 17th to the 19th Century (UNIRI, 2013–2018), Croatian Written Heritage from the 18th to the 20th Century (UNIRI, 2018–2023), and Manipulative-Communicative Concepts in Persuasive Slovak and Croatian Media Discourses (VEGA, 2015–2017, Matej Bel University, Banská Bystrica, Slovakia). She is currently a collaborator on the project The Family in the Croatian Littoral and Gorski Kotar in the 18th and 19th Centuries (UNIRI, 2025).

Dr. Vlastelić is an active member of several professional associations, including the International Committee of Slavists – Commission for Sociolinguistics (since 2018), the Croatian Applied Linguistics Society (since 2002, head of the Rijeka branch from 2018 to 2020), and the Croatian Philological Society (since 2012). She has served on numerous academic and professional committees and was Deputy Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 4th International Conference Sociolinguistic Approaches to Slavic Languages (2019), as well as Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 14th Rijeka Philological Days (2025).

Within the University of Rijeka, she contributes as a member of the Publishing Committee (since 2020) and as a member of the Governing Board of the University Library (since 2023). Since 2012, she has also been an editorial board member of Fluminensia (category a1 journal).
