Deadline for submitting applications to the NCN: September 15, 2026, by 2:00 p.m.
This call for proposals is open to researchers who earned their Ph.D. between 5 and 12 years prior to the year of application. Research projects should aim to establish a new research team conducting basic scientific research.
In this competition, you may plan a research project lasting 36, 48, or 60 months.
Apart from the project leader, the project team may not include individuals holding an academic degree, the title of professor, a postdoctoral degree, or equivalent qualifications, nor individuals who have previously collaborated on a research project funded through a competitive call. It is mandatory to involve one or more doctoral students for a total period of at least 36 months.
An individual may serve as the principal investigator of a research project under the SONATA BIS competition only once.
Complete applications prepared in the OSF system may be submitted to the Science Department for review by August 31, 2026.
By that time, you must:
make the fully completed application available to Research Department staff in the OSF system,
agree on a data management plan with the UKW Library, link.
submit to the Research Department the DIRE opinion regarding the equipment planned for purchase,
submit to the Research Department the application form signed by all persons required by the form, link to the form.
Applications that are not made available to Research Department staff by the specified deadline will not be reviewed and will not be sent to the NCN.
