About us

Networks of Reception in Eighteenth-Century Newspapers and Magazines: Laurence Sterne (STERNEWS) is an NCN Polonez-Bis 1 project run by Dr Mary Newbould (PI) and Professor Jakub Lipski (Mentor) in the Department of Anglophone Literatures, Faculty of Literary Studies. Networks of Reception investigates the phenomenon of literary adaptation in the long eighteenth century, focussing on the circulation of ‘Sterneana’ – creative responses inspired by the works of comic author and clergyman Laurence Sterne – in contemporary newspapers and magazines.

STERNEWS is generously supported by a Polonez Bis-1 grant. This competitive award is part of a fellowship programme for experienced researchers, co-funded by the European Commission and the Polish National Science Centre under the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND grant.
