Learning the Polish language through integration events and innovative teaching methods is a key element of a new project just launched at Kazimierz Wielki University (UKW). The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has allocated nearly PLN 150,000 to support the initiative.

The Centre for Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz is beginning the implementation of an international project titled “A Polish Studies Journey Through Cities: Bydgoszcz – Zagreb – Ivano-Frankivsk.” The initiative has been recognized by NAWA under the “Promotion of the Polish Language” program, with total funding of PLN 149,997.

As part of the project, cooperation has been established with partner universities: the University of Zagreb (Croatia) and the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine).

The goals of the project include:

  • promoting the Polish language and culture abroad,
  • enhancing the quality and attractiveness of teaching Polish as a foreign language,
  • supporting the internationalization of academic environments associated with Polish Studies.

The project will be carried out during the 2025/2026 academic year, from October 2025 to September 2026.

Planned project activities include:

  • developing teaching materials, including lesson plans, audiovisual content, and educational games,
  • organizing an educational visit for 20 participants from partner universities at UKW in Bydgoszcz,
  • promoting project activities through social media.

The main beneficiaries of the project will be students, members of the Polish diaspora abroad, and teachers of Polish as a foreign language.

Thanks to this initiative, Kazimierz Wielki University will further strengthen its position on the map of international academic cooperation, promoting the Polish language and culture at the heart of Europe.
