Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz has been ranked among Poland’s leading universities for communication effectiveness. UKW took third place in the ranking of the most active universities on Facebook and placed within the top ten higher education institutions with the highest number of interactions. The data were published by the Institute for Internet and Social Media Research (Instytut Badania Internetu i Mediów Społecznościowych).

Experts from the Institute presented a ranking focused on social media engagement.

“Based on the collected data, we prepared an analysis of the communication effectiveness of higher education institutions, assessed by the number of interactions – the key indicator of user engagement,” explained the Institute’s experts.

In September, UKW ranked third in terms of the number of published posts, and seventh overall, achieving the best result among universities in the region. The report emphasized that UKW, along with two other top-performing universities, was among the leaders of the overall ranking.

“The analysis of universities’ activity on Facebook shows that, similar to the ranking of the number of followers, the leaders in this category do not fully overlap with those at the top of the general ranking. Among the ten most active universities, only three made it into the top ten overall — including Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz,” the report states.

In September, UKW published nearly 150 posts on Facebook, generating almost 8,000 interactions (likes, comments, shares, etc.). Experts from the Institute highlighted that social media engagement is measured not only by the number of followers or posts but also by the quality of shared content.

“September 2025 on Facebook demonstrated how important it is to understand that follower count or posting frequency is only part of social media success. While these factors can boost reach, the key lies in the ability to engage audiences. To effectively use Facebook, universities should focus on creating content that captures community attention and aligns with the needs and expectations of various target groups. Only in this way can they build a lasting and authentic online image,” noted the experts.

“September is a crucial time for universities – marking the start of the academic year, orientation days, and intensified recruitment activities. The ranking shows how universities engaged their communities on Facebook during this period,” added the specialists.
